Thomas was actually home with us to celebrate! The boys and I decided to cook some new dishes instead of buying a traditional gift.
For breakfast, the boys chose "Sugar Waffles with Strawberries and Whipped Cream".
Lunch was a traditional pizza for the boys and a "Margherita Pizza with Vodka Tomato Sauce" for Thomas. The fresh mozzarella was yummy! We also had a "Taffy Apple Pizza" for dessert.
Dinner was a somewhat traditional meal with a twist thanks to Paula Deen! Let's just say, she is not your friend if you're on a diet! We had grilled Southern Style Sirloin (with gorgonzola butter and caramelized onions), roasted potatoes (with bacon and more onions), and a salad (yes, even more onions but red ones this time!) with homemade gorgonzola dressing. A dessert was in the works again but no one had room so we decided to make it another day. All in all, everything was delicious and the boys had fun helping me cook.

Random Conversations
Gavin: (yawn)
Me: Somebody is getting sleepy (in my best sing song voice)
Gavin: No mommy, I just forgot to yawn this morning.
We've been reading Gulliver's Travels as our "family" read-aloud this week.
Brandon: Mommy, where did you get this book?
Me: From the thrift store
Brandon: (incredulous) Why would anyone want to get rid of this book?!? I love this book!

Our First Broken Bone!!
For those who didn't know, Brandon broke his nose a couple of weeks ago. It happened the morning after a sleepover at the neighbor's home. I wasn't there so I didn't freak out. The bleeding had stopped by the time I actually saw him.
The first pic is from a couple of days after he broke his nose.
He's okay now. The swelling is almost gone (although the doctor said it may take another month for it to go away completely). He says he's not in any pain; and it seems to be healing well.

Gavin's First Loose Tooth!
We were surprised that he lost his tooth so early. I wasn't expecting a loose tooth until 6 or more months from now. Brandon didn't lose his first tooth 'til well after his sixth birthday. Gavin didn't even get his first tooth until he was close to one year old. I thought that because of that he would be late losing a tooth. He was so excited! Looks like it won't be long before he loses the next tooth! I checked it earlier today and it's already a lil wiggly.

St Patty's Day!
Last week was St. Patty's Day and the boys had hoped to catch a leprechaun. They never give up hope that this may be the year! We haven't been successful thus far but we always try. We spent Mar 16 building traps. Of course the boys were eager to check their traps to see if we got lucky this year. They ran downstairs only to find that we had been outsmarted again! There were trails of shamrocks left by the leprechauns just to taunt us! In the traps, the boys were fortunate enough to find goodies left in place of the missing "gold". We were also excited to find some green surprises around the house, including green toilet water and even green milk!!

I am so bad about updating our blog! We have recently gotten over the flu. It started with Thomas then progressed to the rest of us. Fortunately we're all but over a little coughing. I'm hoping to update with pics soon. I just realized that our Christmas pics are still on the camera! I will try to post new pics within the next few days.

There are so many pictures that need to be uploaded. We did a little traveling in September and then there's the pictures from Gavin's birthday.
Things are going great. Thomas was recently promoted to CW3! We're so proud of him!
The boys are gearing up for Christmas already and we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving! Brandon has been bugging me to break out the Christmas decorations. Although I'm not quite ready yet, I think we will bring some out of storage this weekend. I almost forgot that soon we're hosting the appetizer portion of our unit's Progressive Christmas Dinner so I need to get started on decorating for the holidays.
Our laptop is on its last leg so I'm hoping to upload pics to our desktop and get some new ones posted soon.
